Interesting design of the notebook inside. DIY diary: interesting ideas and manufacturing methods. ideas for filling out a business person's diary
A planner is a great tool for planning your schedule and daily tasks. You can also add a lot of useful things to your diary that will help you remember the main thing, be organized in all areas of your life, and most importantly, relieve your head. After all, in fact, there are a lot of things that we try to remember and keep in our heads, although it would be better to write them down and free up space in our memory đ
Below are 33 ideas for your diary that will help make it even more useful.
Health and sports
- Drinking regime. We all know that we need to drink about 1.5-2 liters of clean water during the day. And so as not to forget about water, there is such a daily tracker in the #So_easy_planner diary. It's simple: I drank a glass and painted it over. You will never forget that you need to drink water, because... itâs right before your eyes, and you wonât forget how much youâve already drunk đ
- Physical exercise. You can borrow daily or on some weekly schedule. All you have to do is write it down in the daily activities and habits box in your notebook. For example, note that I go to yoga on Mon, Wed and Fri. And also, for example, I run every day, we also write running here and celebrate it daily. Everything is before your eyes, pretending you forgot wonât work đ
- Sports programs. If, for example, you are doing some kind of program, or doing a challenge, then you can also write them down on writing pages or simply print them out and paste them or attach them with a paper clip to your diary. By the way, a cool website with such programs and challenges is darebee.com. For example, do you want to learn how to hold a plank for 5 minutes in a month? Please!
- Nutrition programs or challenges. For example, you pass detox program? Do you want to cleanse your body of sugar? etc.

Business and technology
Children
- Schedule of additional classes. We have two daughters. The eldest is engaged in cheerleading, drawing and English, the youngest is going to prepare for school and will soon also go to school. It happens that a grandmother calls and says: Iâll pick up my granddaughter after training, what time is she free? And Iâm just in a stupor, I donât remember right away. Of course, you can keep all these training schedules in your head, but why ;). You can just write it down.
- School timetable. If necessary, of course. For example, I donât follow this đ
- School bell schedule. But this is a necessary thing to understand when you can call your child if something happens, and when it is not necessary.
- Vacation schedule. It is usually said at the beginning of the school year and is useful to write down to plan family time, recreation, and vacation.
Finance
- Savings tracker. If you want to save up a certain amount for a large purchase or just for a vacation and want to see your progress visually, such a tracker will be very convenient.
- Credit tracker. Again, if you have loans and you want to visually see how much is left until full repayment.
- Bill payment dates. Of course, if it is necessary and important. For example, my meals in the garden are paid until the 20th of the current month, but for English and preparation for school you need to pay until the 1st. Etc.

Electronic notebooks have practically replaced such a previously necessary thing as a notepad from our lives.
However, you must admit that it is much more pleasant to flip through slightly rustling pages with your records of phone numbers, addresses of friends and acquaintances, their dates of birth or recipes for your favorite dishes, than to simply drag your finger across a soulless screen in search of the necessary information.
And if this notebook was received as a gift from a person dear to the heart, and on the spread there is a memorable inscription written by a beloved hand, then these several pieces of paper collected together acquire enormous value and are sometimes kept by the owners for many years. And you definitely canât go wrong if you complement your gift with an engraved pen. Here are some good options:
Thatâs why giving a notebook would be the right decision, especially if you figure out how to sign it beautifully.
What you definitely shouldnât write
Itâs worth clarifying right away that there are phrases that should not be used when making a gift. Some of them are too banal and hackneyed, while others may have a dual meaning:
Possible options
You canât go wrong if you write a quote from classical literature, a wise phrase, a short parable or a short commandment like âFeel happiness within yourself and give it to othersâ, âDream, create, love...â on the spread of your notebook.
But if you want something original, then you should use your imagination or the Internet. You can give this option:
But even here you should be careful, because other friends can turn it on and, according to an inexplicable law, write the same thing. In this case, it is better to change it a little or add something of your own.
How to give
Having decided what to write on the gift, you need to decide how to decorate it. There are no strict rules that dictate that a notebook must be wrapped. A cardboard case will do for this.
Not knowing how to pack an original gift for a loved one, you can discreetly put it under a pillow, in a bag, in the refrigerator, near the coffee maker, etc.
The main thing is to evoke positive emotions in a person, cheer up and enjoy the process of preparing a surprise and the effect produced.
Sign the notebook. Be sure to leave contact information (phone or email) next to your name. If your notebook gets lost, this will greatly increase your chances of getting it back.
- If the notebook is intended for work, you can paste or tape your business card on the cover. This can be done on the outside or inside of the cover, whichever you prefer.
Title your notebook, and also indicate the start date and serial number, if this is another notebook in a series of several notebooks of the same type. This information should be written down inside a notepad at the very beginning. It is necessary to ensure that each notebook is individual and easily distinguishable from others.
The most important information is placed on the inside cover. It can be printed and glued with glue or tape. Think about what information should always be at hand - important phone numbers, account numbers, contact information for employees or classmates, as well as any information related to the subject of the notebook. For a class log, you should add the class number, class times, and room number.
- Do not write down your passwords, combination lock numbers, bank accounts, or other personal information that could compromise your security if your notebook is lost.
Reserve one or more pages first for recording the most needed information or for later writing the contents of the notebook.
Strengthen the binding and/or spring. For a regular notepad, it is quite enough to use packaging film or tape.
Use the outer cover. This will protect the main cover, and at the same time hide its design, because many notebooks are printed with flashy or inappropriate designs.
Glue on a small piece of ribbon or string to use as a bookmark. For spring notebooks, it can be tied to a spiral. There are several other ways to make finding information easier. For example, you can use paper corners or colored cardboard clips to mark important pages. If you are using pages in a row, you can cut off the corner of each completed sheet to quickly find the current position.
Add a pocket. It can be in the form of a cut corner or a full pocket. The size can be any, depending on what you plan to store there - business cards, note paper, received notes or strips for sending such notes, etc. The pocket can be cut from plain paper or a transparent file. To secure it, use a glue stick or tape.
Add a loop under the handle. Roll a strip of paper around your favorite pen and glue it together, then tape it to the back of the cover. Alternatively, you can use a rubber band to secure the handle. It can be glued to the cover, tied to a spring or even the spine by punching a hole in it.
Add handles or a carrying strap. They can be made from ready-made durable ribbon or sewn yourself if you know how to handle fabric and a needle. Attach the handles to the front and back covers close to the spine/spring so that when carrying the notebook, the notebook does not open accidentally and the enclosed items do not fall out of it.
Almost every person comes a period when he begins to keep a personal diary. How to do this, everyone decides for themselves. But there are several general recommendations that will be useful for a beginner.
Why do you need a personal diary?
The âsecret notebookâ genre has remained in demand since the 10th century (in the form of travel and autobiographical notes) to the present day. Of course, today a personal diary looks completely different, even down to the electronic version.
But the reasons for the appearance of the diary remain the same:
It is no coincidence that people most often begin to keep a diary in adolescence, during the period of formation of character and worldview.
From a psychological point of view, keeping a personal diary is an excellent way to maintain and strengthen peace of mind, reduce stress levels, and relieve the tension accumulated during the day.
This is a recognized method of psychotherapy, the effectiveness of which has been proven by practice. The variety of diaries is beyond description.
It can be a thin notebook, a sketchbook, a set of sheets, a blog on the Internet - it all depends only on the desire of the author. The same applies to the design style. It could be a teenager's diary written in youth slang, decorated with all the colors of the rainbow, filled with stickers and other trinkets.
Or maybe a neat diary of a pedantic adult with numbered pages and a calendar. There is only one requirement: the owner of the diary must be comfortable.
What do they write in LD
The diary is a portrait of its owner. And the contents of the diary reflect the inner world of the one who keeps it.
What diary pages may contain:
- Chronology:
- Analysis of the day:
- analysis of the events that happened;
- thinking about what happened, assessing it, personal emotions;
- interesting thoughts that appeared during the day;
- personal achievements;
- dreams and plans for the future.
- Self-education and self-improvement:
- interesting quotes;
- favorite poems and songs;
- notes about your favorite books and films;
- impressions of visiting performances, exhibitions, excursions.
- Interests, hobbies:
- culinary recipes;
- sketches of outfits;
- knitting patterns;
- advice on home economics, gardening, vegetable gardening;
- Creation:
- your poems;
- your drawings, sketches;
- magazine clippings, stickers, postcards, etc.
- Reminders:
- especially memorable photographs;
- booklets about exhibitions, excursions;
- interesting letters, romantic notes.
For younger students who are just going to keep a diary, it will be interesting and useful to start it with a description of family members, friends, hobbies, favorite games, books and films, etc.
Diary from a notebook
There are many options on how to make a personal diary. Everyone chooses the diary format for themselves. A thin notebook is suitable for rare occasional notes. To keep a constant diary, it is better to immediately purchase a thick notebook, which will be enough for writing for a long period. To make your diary last a long time, it is better to buy a high-quality notebook with thick paper.
It can be improved:
- The cover is further strengthened by gluing it with fabric or cardboard. For decoration, you can add stickers, drawings, embroidery, etc.;
- to give strength, the notebook is sewn together;
- for convenience, you can make bookmarks;
- records can be further protected. To do this, a hole punch is used to punch a through hole in the pages through which the lock is threaded.
Diary from a notebook
A practical option is a diary from a notebook. It is better to purchase a notebook with a large number of sheets bound in a spiral.
To add originality to a standard notepad, you can:
- It is unusual to decorate the cover by covering it with fabric or paper. A beautiful, neat pasting will not only decorate the cover, but also give it strength. You can additionally decorate the cover with decorative elements;
- For additional protection, you can make a through hole in the notebook through all the pages and insert a lock into it;
- The spiral can be replaced with a beautiful lace, ribbon, braid. But you should remove the spiral and thread the cord that replaces it very carefully.
Diary from the album
For those who will fill a personal diary with their sketches, it is optimal to use a sketchbook. This option is more suitable for lovers of applique, scrapbooking and other creative techniques. Thick, large-format paper is perfect for drawing (thin notebook paper will soak paint or markers through) and working with glue.
When creating a journal from a sketchbook, you can:
- strengthen and decorate the cover by carefully gluing a layer of fabric or thick paper on top;
- protect the recordings with a padlock threaded through the album sheets;
- You can additionally sew together album sheets so that they do not fall apart during a large number of volumetric applications.
Diary folder
Instead of buying a ready-made notebook or notebook, you can make an original diary folder using scattered sheets of paper:
Office paper diary
Another way to create a diary from individual sheets is to fasten a stack of office paper with rings:
- The top and bottom covers are made of thick paper;
- Fold the pages of the future diary between the covers in an even stack. They can be multi-colored, beautifully shaped (for example, with patterned edges or rounded corners), different densities for different sections;
- on the left side, use a hole punch to make two through holes at the top and bottom, passing through the entire stack;
- insert connecting rings into the holes.
An old book is the original basis for LD
A creative person will want to have a special personal diary. An old, no longer needed book will tell you how to make your diary creative. Creating a personal diary based on it gives unlimited scope for imagination and creativity. The cover is decorated according to the taste of the hostess. Some pages can be removed, glued together, pictures can be pasted in, etc.
And in order to keep records, the typographic font will have to be painted over, or covered with a proofreader, or covered with thin paper. In short, such a diary will require additional efforts to solve emerging problems. The more interesting the process of filling it will become - just for extraordinary natures.
Diary with leather cover
For large diaries that will be used for a long time, you will need to make a durable cover. One of the best options is leather.
To make it:
- A thick cardboard base is covered with a leather blank. The leather flap should be larger than the base so that the seam allowances can be folded over and glued to the inside of the cover. Resistant adhesive of the âMomentâ type is used;
- When gluing, the skin must be smoothed well and pressed very tightly to the base;
- Then the allowances are also glued tightly on the reverse side;
- For best results, the cover is placed under a press.
Diary on the Internet
The most modern version of a personal diary is the electronic version.
There are two options:
Making the cover
The diary begins with a cover that should attract and create a positive mood.
What can you advise regarding design:
Origami for the cover
The origami technique is indispensable when designing a diary - both the cover and the inner pages. Intricately folded figures will become a real âhighlightâ of the diary, you just need to choose the appropriate options. Large volumetric figures are not suitable, but origami offers many different âflatâ crafts of minimal height: frames, silhouettes, bows, intricate envelopes.
It is not difficult to learn how to fold origami figures, especially since the diary does not require super complex compositions - a simple fan inserted between two pages looks very impressive.
First page design
The first page deserves special attention. For its aesthetic design, you can use the same techniques and rules as for the cover. But its information content should be thought through.
On the first page you can place:
Calendar in a diary
The diary involves indicating calendar data for each entry. You can simply indicate the number at the beginning of the entry, or you can highlight the date clearly using colored ink, a special font, etc.
If the diary has the functions of a diary (to-do plan for each day, reminder notes, daily analysis, etc.), then it is convenient to immediately allocate a certain number of pages to the diary, creating a ânested calendarâ. For example, set aside a separate page for each day.
Then you can indicate the date, month, day of the week on each page in advance.
For convenience, the pages can be decorated with bookmark stickers protruding beyond the sheet, on which the date is indicated. Another option: cut out the pages in âstepsâ and write the date on them.
Internal page design
How to design the internal pages to make them interesting is up to the author of the personal diary to decide. It is important that they evoke positive emotions and the desire to fill them.
A few tips:
Envelopes, secret pockets, tricks in LD
Memorabilia is often kept in diaries: tickets to events, booklets, notes, small souvenirs, letters. It is convenient to use special pockets and envelopes for this. Pockets for storing memorable little things or secret information can be made from diary pages folded or glued together in a special way. You can also use tape for this purpose.
Pockets can be made separately and then glued into the diary. They are made from paper, fabric, foil, plastic, and then decorated with pictures, stickers, patterns, rhinestones, etc. Even a simple pocket made from a sheet of beautiful paper folded in half, secured at the edges with decorative tape, will look beautiful.
You can buy ready-made envelopes, or you can make them yourself - for example, using the origami technique.
If relatively large items (for example, several photographs) will be stored in the envelope, then it is better to attach it to a thick cover. But a pocket for one special note or a memorable dried flower can be glued to the page. It is very convenient and aesthetically pleasing to use decorative tape to attach small pockets.
Text decoration, patterns, borders in cells
Multi-colored pens and felt-tip pens are used to decorate the text. An unusual arrangement of entries is also suitable for this purpose - for example, in several columns, or in blocks in different places on the page. You can diversify the pages with beautiful ornaments along the edges of the sheet, various frames, both drawn and pasted. To create such a border it is very convenient to use templates.
With their help, even those who do not know how to draw can design a diary sheet very beautifully. Another great opportunity for those who are not very good at drawing is drawing by cells. All you have to do is find a drawing you like and move it into your diary by cell. Itâs easy to find entire collections of similar drawings on the Internet.
Pictures for LD
You can decorate your diary using ready-made drawings. These could be pictures from magazines - for example, photographs of your favorite singer or artist. Whole sets of themed stickers are on sale.(cats, princesses, etc.) that look beautiful in the text.
You can find a picture you like on the Internet and print it on a color printer. Beautiful candy wrappers, greeting cards, stamps, etc. will also work.
Inscriptions and clippings from magazines in the diary
In glossy magazines you can find not only pictures, but also interesting quotes, sayings, and beautiful headlines. They can also be used to design a diary. If you frame such clippings or highlight them in some other way, they will immediately attract attention.
last page
The page that ends your personal diary, like the first one, can also be made special. Perhaps it will contain thoughts that especially struck the owner of the diary. Or plans for the future. Or you can simply draw a door leading to the âbeautiful far away.â
Envelope for LD
You can additionally protect your diary â both from wear and tear and from unnecessary attention. To do this, they make an additional envelope-case for storing a personal diary. To create a simple envelope, take a piece of paper and fold it in three so that the larger part will fit the diary, and the smaller remaining part will be the flap for the envelope. The side folds are fastened with glue or tape.
Beautiful paper and decorative tape will make such an envelope look elegant even without additional decorations.
You can make a fabric cover using the same principle. The flap can easily be fastened with a button or Velcro.
A diary is a very personal matter. And everyone decides for themselves how to conduct it.
A personal diary can become a true friend, helping you understand how to build your life, how to make it harmonious and fulfilling. This is a unique opportunity to remember your past and appreciate it as an adult.

Today it is becoming increasingly difficult to surprise with an unusual gift, especially if it is purchased in a store. Although the assortment there is quite impressive, the downside is that we have already seen it all somewhere.
Stores purchase goods in batches, so it is very unpleasant to see the same thing as someone else. Itâs another matter if a gift is made with your own hands; it has much more advantages than a store-bought item.
The uniqueness of a handmade gift
Firstly, such a gift will be exclusive, one of a kind, even if someone tries to repeat it, the likelihood that they will be similar is reduced to zero.
Secondly, by making a gift with your own hands, especially for a specific person and taking into account preferences, the gift will emphasize his individuality. After all, most mass producers think in stereotyped ways.
Thirdly, such gifts always bring warmth, and looking at such a masterpiece the author will be remembered with love.
Handicrafts are now experiencing a rebirth, and in addition to knitting or embroidery, new types are appearing, which are gradually gaining popularity among handmade lovers. One of these areas is scrapbooking or handmade notebooks.
Very often you can see photos of such notebooks on popular social networks. And colleagues, housewives, and children will be happy with such a gift. Notepads are never superfluous. Making them yourself is not that difficult.
We offer several step-by-step instructions on how to make a notebook with your own hands. Moreover, even those who have nothing to do with needlework can do it.
And if, after all, labor lessons at school were not your favorite, then you can use our advice. As a result, you get a beautiful notebook with minimal time investment.
Office at home
The notebook master class, which is presented below, is similar to a regular notebook. Making such a notebook is easy and simple.
So, to make it you will need:
- A4 paper;
- cardboard;
- hole puncher;
- awl;
- stationery clothespins;
- stationery knife;
- wooden plank;
- ruler;
- needle and thread;
- glue;
- sandpaper or nail file;
- scrap paper, decorative tracing paper, fabric, lace, beads, etc. (For decoration).
Progress
We take several A4 sheets, the quantity depends on your desire and the power of the hole punch.
We fold all the sheets in half, you can iron the fold with a ruler, this will make it smoother and neater. We put them one inside the other to make an A5 booklet.
Tip: Notebook pages can be decorated in a vintage style. To do this, before assembling the notebook, you need to soak them in coffee or tea for 30-40 seconds, and if you make creases on them in advance, the effect of antiquity will be even brighter.
For the next step we will need a hole punch. We insert the folded sheets from the fold side into the hole punch, so that semicircular holes are created along the edge. Next, you should open the notebook and look through it so that all the sheets are punched.
If the pages do not stick out evenly when the notepad is closed, this needs to be corrected. We lay a wooden board and cut the sheets with a stationery knife. The cut edge must be processed with a nail file or fine sandpaper to remove all roughness.
Note!
We fasten the notebook with regular thread; for strength, it can be folded in half. We insert the thread into both holes from the inside, pull it out and pull it well. Tie a knot and cut off the excess thread.
It is worth considering that for a full-fledged notebook you will need at least several of these mini-notepads. After we get the desired thickness, we lay a stack of several notebooks on both sides with cardboard, and fasten the spine with stationery pins.
The rest should be placed under the press. Thick books will ideally cope with this role. The notepad should remain under pressure for some time (approximately 3-5 hours). In any case, the longer it stays there, the better it will stick together.
The next stage is the second firmware update of the entire notebook. Making holes with a hole punch at such a thickness will be problematic or even impossible. Of course, you can divide this process into several stages, but there is a risk that the holes will be in different places and this can ruin the whole idea of ââthe notebook.
But there is a way out here too. To do this, on the top notebook you need to use a ruler to make notes for future holes, and then carefully pierce them with an awl through each paper layer.
Note!
To prevent the notebooks from sliding off one another, you should secure them with stationery pins, stepping back slightly from the edge of the spine.
Then you should sew all the notebooks with a needle and thread through the holes made. It is better to secure the thread with several knots. Next, you should glue a sheet of cardboard to the stitched spine and secure it with office clothespins.
When gluing, make sure that the glue fills every gap between the sheets of paper. Next, you need to remove the remaining glue and put it under the press until the notepad is completely dry.
As soon as the glue has dried, you should start making endpapers from colored cardboard, scrap paper or decorative tracing paper. They should be glued to the inside of the cover, and a hard spine should be made from cardboard, but it should be glued to the outside. We decorate the front side of the notebook with our favorite techniques.
Tip: To make a beautiful endpaper, it is best to use scrap paper. You can purchase it at a bookstore, office supply, or craft store.
Note!
The cover is everything
Making a notebook out of paper is half the battle; the other part of the job is decorating its façade. After all, the first thing we see when looking at a notebook is the cover, and based on it we decide whether we like this thing or not, whether we want to open it or not.
There are several ways to decorate a notebook cover:
Use ready-made scrap paper kits. Create your own elements to decorate a notebook: you can use almost all fabrics of different composition and texture, lace, leather, rhinestones, beads, clippings from magazines and newspapers, photographs, shells and sea pebbles and much more that can be found in any home!
Here are just a few examples of how you can creatively decorate a notebook:
- You can sew a soft cover onto a notebook if you put thin foam rubber between two layers of fabric;
- for decoration, you can use photographs or other pictures related to hobbies or certain events (for example, receiving a diploma), as well as clippings from magazines;
- if you use phosphor stickers in the decor, the notebook will glow in the dark;
- You can also make a memorable inscription with invisible ink - such a surprise will be unexpected;
- If you sew a thin magnet into the cover you will get a notebook that attracts good luck.
If making notebooks is not your thing, but you want to show your creativity, you can cheat a little and decorate a ready-made notebook, previously purchased at the store. It will look no worse than a handmade notebook.
It should be remembered that no notebook bought in a store can compare with a notebook made with your own hands and given with love! You can give it as a gift for any occasion.
